MEPCO plans another board machine at its Saudi plant

Oct 01, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Middle East Paper Company (MEPCO) plans to install a fourth containerboard machine at its mill located in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the company said.
The unit will have a capacity of 300 thousand tonne/yr and will produce High Performance testliner and High Performance fluting in a basis weight range of 75-150 g/m², by using 100% recycled furnish. Start up has been targeted for the 4Q 2012.
MEPCO purchased the vast land adjacent to the existing mill site in al khumrah district around six months ago for the expansion. Currently MEPCO's project team is busy in building its third containerboard machine which will add 275 thousand tonne/yr of HP testliner and HP recycled fluting in a basis weight range of 75-150 g/m² in mepco's basket. PM3 is schedled to start commercial production by 1Q 2010.
