Aug 03, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. St.-Petersburg’s EuroPartner became first company in Russia which acquired right to certificate forests by FSC. At present, only 2% of forest fund in Russia are certificated by FSC. According to executive director of Confederation of timber companies of North-West Denis Sokolov, Russian companies obtained 29 certificates for total area of 10.1 million hectares of forests, another 20 million hectares are ready for certification. In 2004 only 7 certificates were received in Russia for total area of 1.2 million hectares. In the world, about 80 million hectares of forests are FSC certificated.
