Syria's General Converting Industries Company sold 113 mln Syrian pounds ($2.69 mln/2.47 mln euro) worth of products in 2002, which is 68 pct of the plan, the company said. General Converting Industries output for 2002 was valued at 114 mln pounds ($2.71 mln/2.49 mln euro), representing 69 pct of the planned level. The company blames heavy competition from local private companies and imports from Arab countries for not achieving its plan. General Converting Industries warehouse stock was valued at 5.2 mln pounds ($124,000/114,000 euro) at end-2002.
