Tembec generated net earnings of $59 million in the 3Q, compared to a net loss of $38 million in the June 2009 quarter, the company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. Operating earnings before depreciation, amortization and other specific or non-recurring items (EBITDA) was $60 million for the three-month period ended June 26, 2010, as compared to negative EBITDA of $42 million a year ago and EBITDA of $32 million in the prior quarter. Consolidated sales for the three-month period ended June 26, 2010 were $545 million, up from $407 million in the comparable period of the prior year. The forest products segment generated $6 million in operating income on $126 million of sales. That marks a $9 million turnaround from the prior quarter when sales were $100 million. The pulp segment generated $58 million in operating income on sales of $331 million, compared to $41 million on $311 million of sales in the second quarter.
