Nov 11, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. From November 1, Komatsu SweLog is a pure sales and service company for Valmet forestry machines. As Komatsu Forest takes over the total ownership of Komatsu SweLog all efforts within the company will be directed toward forestry machines, Komatsu said in a press release received by Lesprom Network.
The construction machine division has been sold to the Norwegian company AS Hesselberg, who for a long period has been the Komatsu dealer for construction machines in Norway. However, Komatsu SweLog will continue to be the service provider for Komatsu construction machines in the north of Sweden. “The concentration of operations favors all Valmet owners as we can now focus on offering even better service to forestry machine owners,” says Tom Sarin, the new CEO of Komatsu SweLog.
As a part in directing additional emphasis on forestry machines, Komatsu SweLog’s head office will be relocated to Umeå. This means the Swedish sales and service organization will be closer to the factory. One positive effect is the close proximity to the R&D and quality follow-up departments, which will benefit all customers in the north and south of Sweden, and is also a significant step in efforts to strengthen Valmet on the important Swedish home market.
The new CEO of Komatsu SweLog from November 1 is Tom Sarin. He has taken over from Ulf Bergstedt, who will retire. Tom Sarin previously held the position of CEO of Komatsu Forest in USA. Tom Sarin has vast industry experience after holding different positions both in England and North America. Tom Sarin is originally from Finland. “It feels tremendously inspiring to work with our most important sales area and to be a part of an organization with so much expertise,” says Tom Sarin.
Komatsu SweLog is responsible for sales and service of Valmet forestry machines in Sweden. The range of forestry machines comprises different harvester and forwarder models with associated heads and the MaxiXplorer control system. The nationwide workshop and spare part service is operated from 20 fixed sites and an additional 90 mobile units. In addition to this, the company offers an extensive range of used forestry machines. Komatsu SweLog has some 200 employees and is owned by Komatsu Forest AB.
