Oct 07, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. The Ukrainian Inter-departmental commission for international trade (MKMT) started an antidumping investigation concerning importing of fibreboards of wet production method from Russia, Ukrainski Novini reported.
MKMT made this decision on 21 of September based on a complaint of Uniplit (Vygoda, Dolinski area of Ivano-Frankovski region) that is the Ukrainian largest fiberboard producer.
According to the Uniplit data, fiberboard from Russia was sold in Ukraine in 2004 by 35% cheaper than in Russia itself. Because the export potential of Russia is significant, such actions can be considered to be dumping.
The antidumping investigation will be carried out by the Ministry of Economy.
In the course of 60 days beginning on 7 of October the Ministry of Economy will obtain information, evidences and comments concerning this antidumping investigation.
MKMT decided in August to leave unchanged its decision of 12 of July 2002 about the antidumping duty of 68.75% of customs value by fiberboard import from Belorussia. It will be in force till the July 2007.
In April 2004 MKMT introduced the antidumping duty of 17.9% of customs value by fiberboard import for Ecoplita SA (Charnkov, Poland) and of 20.31% for other Polish producers that would be in force for 5 years.
Uniplit produces more than a half of Ukrainian fiberboard.
It performs the whole timber logging and processing cycle.
Uniplit is now the single Ukrainian enterprise that produces fiberboard by nonpolluting 'wet' method.
