Jan 11, 2008. /Lesprom Network/. Wagner Lumber in Owego bought Pomeroy Lumber in the Town of Afton. The acquired sawmill is now operating as Wagner Nineveh and pledges to invest $4.4 million in its future.
The proposed budget includes the acquisition, new machinery and equipment, facility construction and infrastructure improvements. Financial terms of the sale, completed in late December, are not being disclosed at this time, Wagner Nineveh plant manager Doug Griffiths шinformed.
Paul Pomeroy , who owned Pomeroy Lumber, said in February that he wanted to sell the sawmill because he had been in the business for about three decades - since age 19 - and because of increasing foreign competition in the wood products industry.
Wagner Lumber produces 25 million board feet of lumber annually and supplies the furniture, cabinetry and specialty use product industries worldwide.
