Weyerhaeuser Company announced on June 22, 2007 it will permanently close its iLevel(TM) Trus Joist(R) TJI(R) joists plant in Claresholm, Alberta, effective August 30, 2007. The Claresholm plant was built by Trus Joist in 1966 and acquired by Weyerhaeuser in 1999. With annual production capacity of 30 million lineal feet, the Claresholm plant is the smallest of the seven TJI(R) joist facilities Weyerhaeuser owns. Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world's largest forest products companies, was incorporated in 1900. In 2006, sales were CAD 24.8 billion. It has offices or operations in 18 countries, with customers worldwide. Weyerhaeuser is principally engaged in the growing and harvesting of timber; the manufacture, distribution and sale of forest products; and real estate construction, development and related activities. Weyerhaeuser Company Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary, has exchangeable shares listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
