Södra's Chair of the Board Lena Ek has been elected to the Board of PEFC International. As one of 12 members, she will work with forestry issues at an international level.

Three new members elected to the PEFC International Board at the 25th PEFC General Assembly. Riikka Joukio elected as the new Vice Chair, and two members re-elected for another term.

Lena Ek is Chairman of the Board of Södra Skogsägarna , as well as for the European Forestry Technology Platform and Mistra Geopolitics Sweden. 

"The UN's sustainable development goals are based on consideration for the environment, social conditions and the economy. I look forward to contributing to this in PEFC. It is important for family forestry that the environmental certification is practical and credible. I look forward to contributing to this, together with colleagues from all over the world,” says Lena Ek, Chair of the Board of Södra.

Fatimah Mohammad is a forester by profession, holding the post of Assistant Conservator of Forests since 1981. She has been Vice President of Union of Forestry Employees Sarawak since 2000, and was Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Women's Committee from 2007 to 2019.

Sarah Khatib is an engineer in international agricultural development, specialized in land planning and sustainable forest management. As a Forestry Project Manager in France Nature Environnement (FNE), her main mission is to develop advocacy on forestry issues to the political, professional, media and public.

Riikka Joukio, a longstanding board member, was elected to Vice Chair, joining David Ford. Nurudeen Iddrisu and Peter Crook were both re-elected.
