Lesosibirsky LDK No.1 has concluded the entire scope of contracts for the supply of equipment to build new and modernise the existing production facilities at the mill. The cost of the equipment exceeds RUB 3 billion ($41 million). First supplies are expected to begin in the 2Q 2022.
“We have completed procurement procedures and signed a contract for a 64-pocket sawn-logs grading line with Nordautomation OY (Finland). Contracts have also been signed with AS Hekotek (Estonia) for the supply of a 58-pocket dry sawn timber grading and piling line and three pellet production lines. SECAL S.r.l. (Italy) will supply an additional nine charge dry kilns. Three kilns from this manufacturer started operation at Lesosibirsky LDK No.1 in October of this year as part of the first stage of the investment project,” explains Artem Samukhin, Director of Development at Lesosibirsky LDK No.1.
Additionally, there is work in progress regarding the design of a salvage bark waste-fuelled water boiler at LDK No.1, as well as the design of the area for receiving, grading and storing sawn logs. As a result of the technical upgrade, the capacity of Lesosibirsky LDK No.1 will increase by 8%, i.e., to 650 thousand m3 of export sawn timber per year. At the same time, the output of the highest-quality finished products will increase by more than 7%, and the production of pellets will almost double, to 210.5 thousand tonnes per year.
The ambitious modernisation programme at Lesosibirsky LDK No.1 aims to improve the company's operational efficiency and create a closed-cycle production facility. The total project investment is about RUB 6.5 billion ($89 million).
