Segezha Group's Sokol Woodworking Plant is completing the commissioning of pellet production in Vologda region, Russia. The equipment is being configured and a trial batch of pellets has been manufactured. Employees are receiving on-the-job training.

The new facility will produce 65 thousand tons of pellets annually. Around RUB 1 billion has been invested in this project. The equipment is scheduled to be put into commercial operation and reach project capacity in late November.

The pellet facilities will not only expand the enterprise's product line but also increase the sustainability of the plant by serving as a crucial part of the closed production cycle. The total pellet production capacity of the Group will increase by about 38%, to 236 thousand tons of products per year.

The equipment is supplied by Estonia-based Hekotek. By-products of woodworking are used as raw materials. The process is fully automated. Sawdust is delivered to pellet production facilities using pneumatic tube transport. The products are fully compliant with demanding European standards such as SBP and ENPlus A1.

The biofuel pellets that Segezha Group manufactures from renewable natural raw materials are increasingly being used in automated boiler rooms for heating public buildings and single-family houses.
